Gates 2 and 19 are listed as closed in every column. If a map app sends you to either one, reroute to Gate 1, 3 or 20, the three gates open around the clock. Gate 4 is the trap for late arrivals: after 1 p.m. on weekdays it only lets traffic out.
Visitors and family without a DoD ID
Visitors can apply for a pass online at pass.aie.army.mil with a U.S. driver's license, a Social Security number and a phone that takes text messages. An approved applicant shows the license at the gate for scanning. The online route needs no sponsor, only a valid purpose such as visiting family, a medical appointment or a ceremony.
Family members or friends without a DoD ID who come through the Visitor Control Center must first be escorted there by a DoD ID card holder who is assigned to a unit on Fort Carson, lives on post or otherwise has routine access. Recurring access two or three times a week, or a pass lasting 30 days to a year, needs a digitally signed FC Form 2036-E from the sponsor before the visit. Anyone seeking unescorted access without a DoD ID or installation pass goes through a National Crime Information Center background check.
